Founding member of the European Union and host of the EU’s headquarters, as well as several other major international organizations such as NATO, this tiny country has big power. Belgium has many different cultural influences, as it borders France, Germany, Netherlands and Luxemburg. The main language of Belgium is French, followed by Dutch. Belgium features charming canals that have rightfully earned the reference of “Venice of the North.” From their world famous beer to their mouthwatering chocolate, Belgium is a country with plenty to eat, drink and see. This trip, we tried a different approach of travel which included a single backpack and a very loose agenda as we toured through Brussels, Ghent and Brugges.
